This module is the second in a series describing the “troubled relationships in early childhood education” between parents and educators. In it, research findings on the presence of racism and discrimination within child care programs in the mid 1990’s are described and explored. Differences in perception of parents and educators are revealed. Needed strategies are suggested. This module includes excerpts and material adapted from the original research article listed here. Content has been used and adapted with the consent of Judith Bernhard. The facilitator, Jan Blaxall, has inserted comments and suggested reflective activities into the research article.
